A traditionalist historian from Saudi Arabia has defended his country’s ban on female drivers, saying that foreign governments which allow women to get behind the wheel don’t care if they are raped.

“Women used to ride camels so one might ask what prevents them from driving cars,” Saleh Al-Saadoon said in a debate on Rotana Khalijiyya TV.

“In Saudi Arabia we have special circumstances. If a woman drives from one city to another and her car breaks down, what will become of her?”

When the show’s female presenter pointed out that women drive in America, Europe and the Arab world, he replied: “They don’t care if they are raped on the roadside, but we do.”

“It’s no big deal to them beyond the damage to their morale, in our case though, the problem is of a social and religious nature,” he continued.

The presenter pointed out that the show’s other guests appeared “to be in shock,” but Mr Al-Saadoon seemed unperturbed.

“Well, they should listen to me and get used to what society thinks, if they are really so out of touch with it,” he said.

Mr Al-Saadoon later conceded that he was concerned by the idea that some women may be raped by their male chauffeurs, but proposed a solution to that potential problem.

“The solution is to bring in female foreign chauffeurs to drive our wives,” he suggested, at which point the presenter collapsed in a fit of giggles.

We all know Google. You also most likely navigated your way to this blog using google search engine.

In case you are not aware, Google Inc. is an American public corporation specializing in Internet search. It also generates profits from advertising bought on its similarly free-to-user e-mail, online mapping, office productivity, social networking and video-sharing services.

As of March 31, 2009 the company had 19,786 full-time employees. It runs thousands of servers across the world, processing millions of search requests each day and about one petabyte of user-generated data each hour.

We will now give you rare glimpses of inside the offices of Google Inc, let us know how it really looks like working for the internet giant

Google’s first home, a garage in California vs Google mascots at the current Google HQ, known as the Googleplex.

Googleplex: The complex is studded with 'creative spaces' where employees can discuss ideas on a variety of odd furniture.

Many of the furnishings are themed around the colours of the Google logo.

Sydney: Different shaped and sized pods are hung on the walls for staff.

Google encourage staff to take active breaks in the basement with a rock climbing wall, ping pong table and pool tables.

There are multiple cafes throughout the office, all with different food on offer and all free of charge.

Snooze: Google employees are even encouraged to take naps with these state of the art black-out chairs.

One of Google's server farms in Council Bluffs, Iowa, which provides over 115,000 square feet of space for servers running services like Search and YouTube.

Google's Douglas County data centre in Georgia is so large the firm provides Google branded bicycles for staff to get around on.

Here hundreds of fans funnel hot air from the server racks into a cooling unit to be recirculated in Oklahoma. The green lights are the server status LEDs reflecting from the front of the servers.

Even the water pipes reflect Google's brand: These colorful pipes are responsible for carrying water in and out of an Oregon data center. The blue pipes supply cold water and the red pipes return the warm water back to be cooled.

Whizzing into lunch: Google's Zurich office features a slide which drops employees into an eating area, where free all-day meals are cooked up by dedicated on-site chefs.

Free food: A Google chef makes hand-rolled sushi at the headquarters.

Creative space: Workers can even write ideas down on white boards in the corridors.

Who can resist working in such an environment? Lovely!

During the Grammy Awards, music fans found out what some of us already knew: British singer Adele sounds horrible when she sings live.

Adele stunk up the Staples Center with her singing even before the hand of God reached down and mercifully cut off her microphone.

The singer told Ellen Degeneres she stuffed her face and cried most of the day following her horrible performance at the 2016 Grammy Awards’s.

“I treated myself to a burger and a beer,” the mother-of-one said.

“Sound check was great … I was really excited, and then during the changeover the microphones fell onto the piano strings which is what the guitar noise was,” she told Ellen.

She settled on this excuse to explain her horrendous singing: “I’m always a bit pitchy anyways. When I’m flat and I’m sharp, I’m just emotional… I was so embarrassed.”

Afterwards, she said, “I cried pretty much all day yesterday … I kept like spontaneously bursting into tears yesterday. But it was all right. I was fine.”

Adele’s embarrassing moment was an eye (and ear) opener for her fans who don’t realize that her voice may be manipulated in the recording studio.

The government need to look into this matter. How long will army personnel keep battering unarmed civilians??

Gbemisola, the wife of Moshood Olaniyi, the man, who was battered on Wednesday by a soldier, Emmanuel B.J., says her husband’s health is deteriorating due to the extent of the injury he sustained.

She said on Thursday that her husband had not been able to eat any food or drink any liquid since the incident happened.

Gbemisola said Olaniyi had been vomiting the food he ate despite the treatment he received at a medical facility immediately the soldier released him.

PUNCH Metro had reported on Wednesday that Emmanuel battered Olaniyi at the Berger Motor Park in Lagos State for sneering at him.

The soldier had alleged that Olaniyi attempted to hit him while reversing his vehicle, and that when he asked why, the driver just sneered at him.

Emmanuel slapped Olaniyi, lashed him with horse whip and threatened to kill him.

He did not release the driver until much pleading by eyewitnesses and other motorists.

Olaniyi was thereafter taken to a hospital in the area for treatment.

But Gbemisola, who claimed that the treatment did not improve her husband’s condition, said Olaniyi could not sleep in the night because of injuries he sustained in the attack.

She said apart from groaning with pains, her husband had been unable to keep any food down his stomach.

She said, “My husband could neither eat nor sleep. The only thing he took today (Thursday) was tea, which he also vomited some minutes later.

“His health is fast deteriorating; the N15, 000 we paid at the hospital he was taken to for treatment has not achieved anything. He was given drips and some injections, but there has been no improvement. He is complaining of pains.

“We are contemplating on taking him to the hospital again for an X-ray, but we don’t have the money to pay for that. All the money we had at home was the N15, 000 we paid for treatment at the hospital on Wednesday.”

One of Olaniyi’s colleagues, who preferred to be address as Crown, said he and other friends were worried about the bus driver’s condition.

Crown said when he went to check on Olaniyi at his resident at about 2.30pm on Thursday, he met him in pains, being massaged by his wife and other sympathisers.

The founder of Christ Embassy International, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and his estranged wife Anita, have officially call an end to their marriage.
According to a statement on the website of Anita’s counsels, Attwaters Jameson Hill, revealed that her marriage
to the pastor has formally been dismissed by a high court in the United Kingdom on February 8, 2016.
The Statement also indicated that Anitawill cease from being a part of the Christ Embassy.
“We have been requested by Anita Oyakhilome to confirm that on the 8th February 2016 a decree absolute was pronounced in the High Court of Justice Principal Registry of the Family Division dissolving her marriage to Christian Onehirokpeana Oyakhilome.
“Anita Oyakhilome would like to confirm that she is no longer involved in or part of Christ Embassy AKA Believers loveworld inc.”
The marital squabble of both couples has generated a lot of public attention after the televangelist, denounced Anita before his congregants in London in 2014 saying both of them did not set up the church together.
“I am here for your concerns about the ongoing domestic issue with my wife and I know it affects you directly, being the ones under her leadership. This is not an organisation or a political party, so it’s not a place for you to air your opinion or scrutinise what we do,” he said at a meeting in the church branch Bermondsey.
“We had a vision, started and you joined us. If you don’t like what we do, you can get out. Churches where members air their views never grow. Some pastors wives think when they marry a pastor they are equal to the pastor.
“My wife thinks so, as a matter of fact, Rev. Tom was her pastor before I married her and Rev. Ray and Evang. Owase were her leaders long before I married her. How come she thinks she’s senior to them now? I already started Christ Embassy before I married her.
“I didn’t marry her and said we should start Christ Embassy. I was already pastoring. I already set my sail and knew my direction before I married her. I only said come and help me. Be careful of the friends you keep. My wife keeps friends who bring out the worst in her and help her see the worst in people instead of keeping friends that will help her vision especially as the wife of a global pastor like me.
“Bitterness is prolonged and accumulated anger. My wife is always angry and bitter. Allegations are either false or twisted information. The current situation is not as a result of what I did or what I didn’t do.
“I didn’t do anything to have caused an upheaval. You don’t join a woman to fight her husband. I’m not teaching you what is wrong, at least I have 2 girls who will one day marry and I want to them to enjoy it,” he added.

A report has emerged online on how a 13-year-old girl from Bayelsa state, Ms Ese Rita Oruru, who was declared missing was adopted by a certain man, Mr. Yinusa (alias Yellow) from Kano state, who promised to marry her with the intent to convert her into Islam and recruit her into an Islamic fanatical Group.

The report which was posted on Facebook is currently trending on social media with the hashtag #‎FreeEseOruruNow‬ ‪#‎EseIsNotAisha‬.

On 12 August, 2015, 13 years old Ms Ese Rita Oruru did not return home.

Efforts made by the parents to locate Ese led to one Mohammed (aka Daidi) who informed the mother that one Mr. Yinusa (alias Yellow) had taken the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru to Kano with an intention to convert her into Islam, recruit her into an Islamic fanatical Group and marry her.

Acting on the above information, Mrs. Rose Oruru approached one Dan Kano, who not only confirmed the story but also promised to take her to Kano to recover her daughter.

Notwithstanding the above promise made, the said Dan Kano rescinded on his promise and rather sent one Rabiu to accompany Mrs. Rose Oruru to Kano.

On the 14th of August, 2015 the journey to Kano was embarked on, arriving after midnight. The said Rabiu took Mrs. Rose Oruru to the chief of a village called Tufa in Kura Local Government Area of Kano State on the 15th of August, 2015.

After relaying the purpose of their visit, the said chief was furious with Rabiu for bringing Mrs. Rose Oruru to Kano and told them that the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru has been converted to Islam and renamed “Aisha”, married and that the child was no longer her child. He also informed them that Miss Ese Rita Oruru was in the custody of the Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi at the Palace.

Moving forward, Mrs. Rose Oruru in the company of Rabiu approached the Emir of Kano’s Palace but met a stiff opposition by several youth, they were pushed out of the Palace.

The said Yinusa, through phone calls, informed Mrs. Rose Oruru that he did not kidnapped her daughter as he took permission from Dan Kano before he abducted her.

Sensing the impossibility of seeing her daughter or having an audience with the Emir of Kano, Mrs. Rose Oruru broke into tears and drew a lot of attention, on hearing her cries an elderly man called the Police.

When the Police arrived they picked Mrs. Rose Oruru to Kwani Police station where her statement was taken and Police officers accompanied her first to the Emir’s Palace but they were prevented from entering the Palace. The Police then proceeded to the house of the Galadima of Kano, who stated that he does not know anything about the matter. The team proceeded to see the Adviser to the Emir, who told them that he does not want to be involved in the matter and then to the Secretary to the Emir of Kano. The Secretary informed them that:

    a. The Chief of Tufa Village got an approval from Kura Police station to take the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru to the Emir’s Palace.

    b. That the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru is now a convert of Islam and if brought to her mother, Mrs. Rose Oruru would not be able to talk or touch her, otherwise either she (the mother) or Ese would die. He advised that they wait till Monday the 17th of August 2015 to see the Emir.

On the 17th of August 2015, the DCO, a Police Inspector from Kwani Police Station, the Chief of Tufa village and Mrs Rose Oruru were at the Palace where the Emir of Kano sat in council. The said Miss Ese Rita Oruru was also seen brought in a Black Jeep with two Police Escort, Yinusa was also present. When the case was mentioned, every other person was allowed inside except Mrs. Rose Oruru, returning from the Emir’s court the DCO informed Mrs. Rose that the Emir of Kano told them to go to the Sharia Court, which they objected to.

The Police at Kwani transferred the matter to State CID in Kano State, where she was asked to go back to Bayelsa and report the matter to the Bayelsa State Police Command.

Mrs Rose Oruru returned to Bayelsa on the 17th of August 2015 and a report was made at the Ekeki Police Station and the matter was later transferred to State CID Yenagoa.

The Police at Yenagoa made some arrest including Dan Kano, and a trip was embarked upon to Kano on the 2nd of September, 2015 with the following persons: Dan Kano, K.C. Dahiru (the chairman of the Hausa community in Yenagoa), Mr. Charles Orurru and Two Police Officer from State CID.

The team reported at the Kwani Police Station in Kano where another visit was made to the Emir of Kano, the Emir informed them that he had since on the 26th of August 2015 sent a letter for the release of the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru to her parent. Another letter was also written but was not responded to.

Notwithstanding the above efforts made the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru has since not been released to her parent but is still held hostage at Kano State.

A 39-year-old school proprietor, Hassana Yusuf on Thursday told an Igando Customary Court that her husband, Adisa, once entered her mother’s room stark naked.

“He was naked in front of our children and went to meet my mum in her room stark naked. My mother had to cover her eyes", the frustrated wife alleged

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the complainant in the case is seeking the dissolution of her 11-year old marriage to Adisa Yusuf.

At the resumed hearing of the case on Thursday, Hassana accused her estranged husband of battering, lack of care for her and her children, threat to life, blackmail and absence of love.

“When our third born was sick, he wanted to go out and I refused to allow him. I said that our child must not die, but the next thing I saw was that he stripped himself naked.

“He was naked in front of our children and went to meet my mum in her room stark naked. My mother had to cover her eyes.

“If I agree to keep providing for the family, there won’t be any problem, provided he would be nice to me and the children

But since I have refused to keep shouldering his responsibilities, he became a demon.

“He said he will kill me and take over what we both laboured for; he boasts that nobody will question him,’’ she said.

The complainant also told the court that her husband was in the habit of accusing her of infidelity.

“My husband is suspicious of my moves; every man I talk to is my boyfriend. He has no trust, whatsoever, in me.

“ There was a day we fought and he hit me with a nail on my head,’’ she said.

Hassana also said that her husband does not show her any care during pregnancy.

“I have nursed every pregnancy myself, as if I impregnated myself. I do the naming ceremony myself. It is only our second daughter that he footed her bill.

“On more than three occasions in 2012, he abandoned me and the children. He once left the house for a year,’’ she said.
The respondent, however, denied all the allegations.

“I had to show my mother-in-law what her daughter normally does to me whenever I tell her there is no money. She usually stripes me naked.

“That was why I went to her room naked.

“I earn N30, 000 every month and I give her everything. Does that not show my love for her and the children?’’ he told the court.
Adisa accused his wife of unfaithfulness.

“She has so many boyfriends, I have evidence to show that she is unfaithful, my fellow landlords are her boyfriends.’’

The respondent said that he doubts the paternity of their last child.

NAN reports that the union which was consummated in 2003, , is blessed with four children.

The court President, Adegboyega Omilola, ordered the couple to attend another Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) meeting on March 3.

The case was then adjourned to June 28, for judgment.

Jessica allegedly left her six-year-old son at home in London while she took a two day trip to work in Aberdeen.

She kept the nature of her work private, and her friends and ex-husband were shocked to find out she worked as a prostitute.

Gareth McGraa, 56, believed Nigerian-born Jessica, 37, was making money to fund the high life she loved, by selling hair extensions. Gareth told of his grief at her death – and his hurt that she had deceived him. The couple, who have a six-year-old son, split when the child was a year old . .

After that, Gareth says, they had several reunions and he always hoped they would end up back together permanently. Gareth, from Southport on Merseyside, said: “I honestly believed that she was making her money from hair extensions. She was a very pious girl – she dragged me to church even and that’s not easy.”

Jessica documented her life of luxury on her social media pages, showing off trips to the Italian Riviera, Hong Kong and New York along with designer clothes, shoes and handbags. Gareth was working as a chief mechanic with Atlantic Drilling in Nigeria in 2005 when he met Jessica in a Port Harcourt bar.

He said: “We were married in Nigeria very shortly after that. Her family were there and we celebrated in a hotel restaurant in Lagos. I knew she was using me for a passport to a certain extent but I felt more than that. We had our barneys like couples do but I spoke to her every other day. She was with me for 10 years.”

They last spoke 3 days before she was found dead in a flat in Aberdeen’s Union Terrace. Police broke the shattering news to Gareth – and revealed the shocking truth about her double life. .

He insists he had no suspicion that Jessica was selling sex. He said: “She liked to be the centre of attention but she wasn’t a girl to put it about – she wasn’t at all like that, never. When I met her I don’t think she’d had more than a handful of lovers in all her life. She wasn’t cheap and liked her Gucci and Armani handbags.

She loved the high life and wanted all her dreams to come true tomorrow. I knew what I was walking into but I really cared for her. To my mind, and hers, we were going to get back together at some point. I wanted it, she wanted it so why not? But I only ever got half the story. I thought I knew her and it hurts
