An impromptu marriage proposal on one of the busiest highways in the country, Interstate 1-45 caused traffic, angered commuters and inspired the Internet’s wrath on Sunday.
The Houston Chronicle reports that Houston resident Vidal Valladares Navas proposed to his girlfriend Michelle Wycoff with the help of several friends who, putting his love above their lives, stood in front of traffic on I-45.
The blushing bride posted the video on Instagram on Monday.
According to a video posted online, the proposal happened at a busy time of the day as the freeway appeared jam packed with cars containing increasingly annoyed drivers - who eventually drowned out Vidal's proposal with a chorus of car horns.
A Houston police spokesman confirms to PEOPLE that Vidal Valladares Navas' romantic gesture shut down Interstate 45 for more than 30 seconds. Navas has been charged with obstructing a highway, the spokesman confirms.
