The controversy surrounding the winner of the Miss Universe pageant just stepped up a gear as another contestant has come forward to insist Miss Colombia should have won.
Host Steve Harvey managed to mess up the announcement of the winner leading Runner-Up Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez-Arévalo to be crowned winner in front of millions of viewers by mistake.
After realising his massive blunder, Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach was then revealed as the correct winner during the ceremony in Las Vegas, with Ariandna being forced to hand over her crown.
Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Riek, who came unplaced in the competition admitted afterwards that she wasn't happy with the result.
“I really couldn’t believe it, I was so upset. For me Miss France as the real winner,” she said in an interview uploaded to Facebook page Missosology.
“I was very happy for Miss Colombia because she really deserved it. I’m really not happy with the result and so are the other girls, I’m sorry to say it,” she added.
“Because no one of us voted for Philippines. I’m so sorry to say it.”
The two contestants involved in Sunday night's embarrassing mix up have since spoken out.
Breaking her silence Colombian beauty Ariadna managed to stay surprisingly upbeat and insisted moments after the fiasco that she wasn't annoyed.
“Everything happens for a reason, so I’m happy,” she said wiping tears from her eyes moments after leaving the stage.
“Thank you for voting for me.”
The real winner, Pia Wurtzbach admitted it had been a "very non-traditional crowning moment".
When asked about the awkward incident, she said it was: “Very 2015!”
