A 21-year-old woman has her face covered with a mass of skin following a rare condition known as Neurofibromatosis.
Born in Kolkata, West Bengal, Eastern India, to Muslim parents, Khadija Khatoon, had lived all her life without knowing how she actually looks.
Although a local official launched a campaign for money with which she would be possibly treated, doctors have told her family there was nothing they could do about it and any attempts to perform surgery could have killed he.
However, despite the distorted facial features, Khatoon says she is happy with the way she is and lives as she is.
She said: “I’m made this way and I accept it graciously.
“I do what I can. If this is how I’m meant to be then I live with it. It’s not a matter of coping, I just live as I am.”
Dr Anirban Deep Banerjee said Neurofibromatosis is a condition that makes sufferers prone to tumours.

“If she’s willing we could need to do a lot of tests to determine how successful surgery could be.” , he says.
