Daraa, SANA
Media reports on the terrorists taking control of Daraa-Damascus highway have been totally refuted.
SANA reporter in the southern Daraa province quoted a source at the Police Command on Thursday as saying that what is being circulated by some media outlets about the terrorist organizations taking over Daraa-Damascus highway is “completely untrue”.
The source stressed that the highway is under the full control of the units of the army and the armed forces.
Meanwhile, Daraa governor Mohammad Khaled al-Hannous confirmed that the situation in Daraa is under control, stressing that terrorist organizations that launched an assault on the city early in the morning have failed to enter the city or areas in its close surroundings thanks to the army units, security forces and the “honest” locals.
Speaking to SANA, al-Hannous said the army units inflicted heavy losses upon the terrorist organizations that attacked the city using various arms ranging between mortars, rocket launchers and the so-called “Jahannam” cannons.
The terrorists, he said, targeted the residents, infrastructure, hospitals and schools, leaving civilian casualties.
The governor stressed that Daraa would remain steadfast in the face of terrorism, noting that the rumors and disinformation regarding Daraa all aim at intimidating its residents.
