Correspondents from Channels TV have confirmed the incident saying the blasts were caused by Improvised Explosive Devices. The residents in that area are also declaring that bodies were being taken away from the scene and wounded people were being taken to hospital.
The number of casualties and the extent of destruction have not yet been verified at this time but security operatives have mobilised to the scene to give a helping hand.
The blasts apparently occurred around 6pm as many people trooped to the market in preparation for the Eid el-fitr celebration this Friday.
