This is the horrific moment a pit bull terrier-like dog 'ripped off a boy's ear'.
The dog had slipped its owner's grasp and savaged the small child who looks little bigger than the beast. Members of the public at the market place in Izmir, Turkey, can be seen desperately kicking the dog in an attempt to make it release the boy from its powerful jaws. More pics after the cut.
Fortunately, a brave grey-haired man manages to snatch the injured child away from the beast which tried to hang on. He then rushes the boy, who reportedly lost an ear in the savage attack, to safety while another man lays on the dog frantically wrestles to control it.
Later a man is seen walking the dog away on a lead with a leg either side of it to prevent it getting loose.
