A transgender woman who was forced to serve her jail sentence in an all-male prison was today moved to a women's jail following a national outcry.
Tara Hudson, 26, was sent back to HMP Bristol in tears after losing a court appeal - but judges called on prison officials to consider moving her to a women's jail.
And this afternoon it was reported that she had been moved to Eastwood Park to serve out the rest of her sentence after 150,000 members of the public signed a petition in her support.
The make-up artist was jailed for headbutting a bar manager in a drunken Boxing Day attack, and sent to a men's prison because she is still legally male despite six years of sex-change surgery. She had attacked Christopher Dyer, manager of the town's branch of Be At One, when he refused to serve her more drinks on December 26 last year.
