As of March 31, 2009 the company had 19,786 full-time employees. It runs thousands of servers across the world, processing millions of search requests each day and about one petabyte of user-generated data each hour.

Google’s first home, a garage in California vs Google mascots at the current Google HQ, known as the Googleplex.

Googleplex: The complex is studded with 'creative spaces' where employees can discuss ideas on a variety of odd furniture.

Many of the furnishings are themed around the colours of the Google logo.

Sydney: Different shaped and sized pods are hung on the walls for staff.

Google encourage staff to take active breaks in the basement with a rock climbing wall, ping pong table and pool tables.

There are multiple cafes throughout the office, all with different food on offer and all free of charge.

Snooze: Google employees are even encouraged to take naps with these state of the art black-out chairs.

One of Google's server farms in Council Bluffs, Iowa, which provides over 115,000 square feet of space for servers running services like Search and YouTube.

Google's Douglas County data centre in Georgia is so large the firm provides Google branded bicycles for staff to get around on.

Here hundreds of fans funnel hot air from the server racks into a cooling unit to be recirculated in Oklahoma. The green lights are the server status LEDs reflecting from the front of the servers.

Even the water pipes reflect Google's brand: These colorful pipes are responsible for carrying water in and out of an Oregon data center. The blue pipes supply cold water and the red pipes return the warm water back to be cooled.

Whizzing into lunch: Google's Zurich office features a slide which drops employees into an eating area, where free all-day meals are cooked up by dedicated on-site chefs.

Free food: A Google chef makes hand-rolled sushi at the headquarters.

Creative space: Workers can even write ideas down on white boards in the corridors.

Who can resist working in such an environment? Lovely!
